The 2025 AGM of the Derby Cycling Group was held in June 2025. This was well received by the audience.
The slides shown at the meeting can be found here. A series of images of the recent infrastructure improvements around Derby can be seen here (thanks to James Bailey).
Also thanks to all those involved in the organisation of the meeting and for those attending and supporting the Group.
We were pleased to welcome Alan Simpson, the regional Mayor’s Sustainable Travel Ambassador who gave an interesting talk about his approach to his new role. He also provided advice on how best to engage with the Mayor’s office and other decision makers.
In particular, he advised that everyone should (urgently) review the recently created report calling “to strengthen rail and bus links and improve walking and cycling rather than spending it on new roads”. Members should then write to the Mayor explaining how this would be the right approach for their locality and asking the Mayor if “she will give a lead in this process”.
Alan also advised members to similarly write to their MPs making the same point.
Alan fed back that he enjoyed meeting the DCG membership “There were lots of thoughtful and insightful contributions”.
