Campaigning for cycle provision in Derby since 1979
Discussions with the City Council about the flaunting of the yellow line parking restrictions on Duffield Road have all been unsuccessful.
The Council’s (lack of) action means that motorists can reasonably feel free to ignore all yellow line parking restrictions near to schools – surely not what the Derby council tax payers want?
We’re pleased to see the new cycle route around the SmartParc campus in Spondon (the old Celanese site) has now been opened. A new (small) piece of infrastructure opened this week in Allestree at the junction of Allestree Lane and Kedleston Road (outside the Markeaton pub). A “cut through” road has been restricted by narrowing, some bollards and legal restrictions to prevent motor traffic from using the cut-through. Regular users of the Nation Cycle Network route 54 cycleway between Pektron Island (Alfreton Road) and Little Eaton Island on the A38 will be thoroughly relieved with recent maintenance works. Very pleased to see that the last section of the Riverside path upgrade has now been tarmacked.
An excellent job done by Derby City Council, their contractors and Sustrans.
The route was popular before but will be even more so now.
