Derby City Council have received a grant from DEFRA for the next phase of the flood defence works within the city. This will deliver enhanced protection along the east bank of the river, starting at Causey Bridge and ending at the Railway Bridge across the river. The contract has been awarded to John Sisk & Son (Sisk) to deliver the project.
The work will require temporary closure and modifications to a number of pedestrian and cycle routes within the city (including closure of the swing bridge and work on Meadow Lane) and we’re pleased that Sisk have been in contact with Derby Cycling Group to ask for feedback on their plans.
It’s great to see developers asking for input during the planning phase so that, where possible, sensible modifications can be made before implementation.
Martin Aldred is representing DCG in the discussions with Sisk and he should be contacted with any suggestions that you’d like to see included.
