Belper Goes Green event

Belper_goes_greenMembers of the Derby Cycling Group attended the Belper Goes Green event in Belper on 30/31st May.

Thanks are due to all those who helped publicise the group at the event including:

  • Ian Dent
  • Derek Gascoyne
  • Pete Greenfield
  • Mark Hicklin
  • Janet Dent
  • and new member (who joined at the event), Alan Foord

As well as the publicity stand we gave a short talk on the work of the Group and recorded a video interview.

We shared the stand with members of the Derwent Valley Cycleway project which was of great interest to the attendees and a good way of drawing members of the public into discussing wider cycling issues.

I am a regular cyclist and long term member of the DCG, although only active in the last 3 years. I've always enjoyed leisure cycling and have also commuted by cycle when my job has allowed. I am now a regular commuter by bike and bus. Previously undertook membership secretary and newsletter editor roles for the DCG and am now webmaster and treasurer.
