We’re pleased to see that Derby City Council continue to expand their successful School Safe Haven<\/a> project where parking and motor transport is restricted around schools at peak times to allow much safer access for pedestrians, cyclists and scooters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Derby has been leading locally but the success has now extended to Derbyshire where the first School Street<\/a> in the county has been successfully established at William Gilbert primary school<\/a> in Duffield<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The week of October 13th to the 17th is National Cycle to School Week<\/a> and it would be great to see more children (and parents and carers) getting involved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’re also pleased to see the appallingly bad parking around St Mary’s in Darley Abbey being addressed by the City Council (or at least the threat of being addressed). Parking behaviour seems to have improved but could still be better so more actual enforcement is probably needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We remain disappointed that the City Council will still not enforce<\/a> the double yellow lines around St Benedicts in Darley Abbey. This allows a small minority of inconsiderate parents to make the environment much more dangerous for pedestrians, cyclists and other motorists. Its now over 9 years of asking the City Council to enforce the existing parking rules but they still refuse to act.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
