{"id":49419,"date":"2025-04-10T19:29:20","date_gmt":"2025-04-10T18:29:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/derbycyclinggroup.org.uk\/site\/?p=49419"},"modified":"2025-04-10T19:29:24","modified_gmt":"2025-04-10T18:29:24","slug":"new-cycle-filter-in-allestree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/derbycyclinggroup.org.uk\/site\/2025\/04\/new-cycle-filter-in-allestree\/","title":{"rendered":"New cycle filter in Allestree"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A new (small) piece of infrastructure opened this week in Allestree at the junction of Allestree Lane and Kedleston Road (outside the Markeaton pub).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A &#8220;cut through&#8221; road has been restricted by narrowing, some bollards and legal restrictions to prevent motor traffic from using the cut-through. This work is in preparation for new traffic lights at the junction and the expectation (now forestalled) of drivers using the cut-through to avoid the traffic lights.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pleased to see that the filter has been built to allow cyclists to pass through and this should make the (short) route a good alternative to part of the unsatisfactory (for cyclists) Kedleston Road. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Also pleased to see that cycle parking stands have been installed outside the pub.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now looking forward to seeing more bollards further towards the city on roads alongside Kedleston Road. This would prevent the &#8220;rat running&#8221; along cut through roads which are nominally &#8220;access only&#8221; but where this restriction is rarely enforced.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another good bit of infrastructure from Derby City Council (there&#8217;s still plenty for them to work on!).<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new (small) piece of infrastructure opened this week in Allestree at the junction of Allestree Lane and Kedleston Road (outside the Markeaton pub).
