{"id":46846,"date":"2020-08-10T15:13:33","date_gmt":"2020-08-10T14:13:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/derbycyclinggroup.org.uk\/site\/?p=46846"},"modified":"2020-08-10T15:19:10","modified_gmt":"2020-08-10T14:19:10","slug":"some-derby-emergency-covid-measures-in-place","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/derbycyclinggroup.org.uk\/site\/2020\/08\/some-derby-emergency-covid-measures-in-place\/","title":{"rendered":"Some Derby emergency COVID measures in place"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>In response to the Government&#8217;s offer of funds to enable emergency road measures to support the greater numbers of people wanting to cycle and walk due to the pandemic, some of the agreed schemes have now been implemented.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The funding from the Government was in two initial phases with Derby applying for funds from tranche 1 and being allocated more money than requested as the schemes were deemed to be particularly good. The money  has been received and the schemes have to be implemented very quickly (weeks and not months).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proposals for tranche 2 should now have been submitted to the Government who will decide on the allocation of funds and will expect any schemes to be implemented by April 2021.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The initial schemes include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Corporation Street and Morledge<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>These roads are now restricted to buses and taxis between 7am and 7pm each day. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"332\" height=\"311\" src=\"https:\/\/derbycyclinggroup.org.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Corporation_St.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-46848\" srcset=\"https:\/\/derbycyclinggroup.org.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Corporation_St.jpg 332w, https:\/\/derbycyclinggroup.org.uk\/site\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/Corporation_St-300x281.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 332px) 100vw, 332px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Great idea but, when visiting the area on Sunday 9th August there seems to be very few cars abiding by the restrictions. This would be possible by taking space from one of the 2 lanes of traffic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Other schemes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Other schemes within tranche 1 of the funding are still planned and the work in Darley Abbey to provide a traffic calmed neighbourhood &#8211; basically by restricting through traffic whilst still providing access to all houses and facilities &#8211; is enthusiastically anticipated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In response to the Government&#8217;s offer of funds to enable emergency road measures to support the greater numbers of people wanting to cycle and walk due to the pandemic, some of the agreed schemes have now been implemented.
