Some priorities Derby Cycling Group have are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make Active Travel (ie walking and cycling) the top priority in transport planning. The funding of active travel is not huge but it can be protected by making it priority number one.<\/li>\n<li>Retain Cycle Derby so they can continue to provide their world class training and promoting activities in schools and with young people and families.<\/li>\n<li>Create a strategic cycle transport policy with the aim of creating an integrated cycle network in the city so that more people feel safe enough to make everyday journeys by bike.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>And why is this important? Because cycling:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Is good for people\u2019s health<\/li>\n<li>Saves people money on transport costs<\/li>\n<li>Reduces traffic congestion and pollution<\/li>\n<li>Improves Derby\u2019s economy:\n<ul>\n<li>Healthy workers take less time off work<\/li>\n<li>Free flowing traffic reduces business costs<\/li>\n<li>With more money in people\u2019s pockets they can spend it in local shops and on local services provided by local people<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Make cyclists voice be heard &nbsp; &nbsp; Public meeting at 6.00pm on Monday 13th July\u00a0at the Guildhall Big Conversation Feedback Form.
