The Big Day Out is a celebration of sustainability and sustainable transport – it’s a one day free festival where everyone is welcome. The festival has been running since 2005 and has grown bigger and bigger each year – with 21,000 people attending the last festival in 2009. The Big Day Out is now back – and it’s bigger than ever before!
Everything is free to take part in and throughout the day there will be 5 themed zones, live music, trapeze and circus performances and workshops, craft and recycling activities, artists making live sculptures, free massages and health checks, victorian guided promenades along the waterfront, advice and support in making your house and home more eco-friendly, bike polo, a Sustrans Great Bike Swap…and there’s even a cycle in cinema. To top it all off the 2012 event will feature Nottingham’s largest VIP cycling picnic!
In addition to all the hands-on activities there will also be a range of bikes, cars and buses to look around – ranging from the vintage and unusual right the way through to low emission electric vehicles.
