New member benefit – Discount on Third Party Liability Insurance

The Derby Cycling Group have recently affiliated to the CTC which provides for liability insurance for DCG led activities such as rides or publicity events.

However, as an additional benefit, all members of the DCG are eligible to purchase Third Party Liability insurance through the CTC for attractive rates (currently £18 per year). Visit this site and explore the insurance details to ensure they are right for you (see the “CTC Affiliated Membership for Individual” section).  When applying for the insurance you will need to quote the DCG affiliate club code of 90088165.

Being an affiliated individual member of the CTC also provides for some discounts and email newsletters although they seem to be of little value (my personal view) – see the CTC website for full details.

Note that the DCG is not involved in the provision of the insurance and you will be making an agreement with (and paying) the CTC and their insurance brokers. If you need to make a claim after taking out the insurance or need to sort out any administrative problems you will need to deal directly with the CTC and their brokers.

If you an individual CTC member you will already have third party liability insurance and this “affiliated individual” offer is unlikely to be of interest.

U18s and students will find the full CTC membership is available at the same price so are likely to prefer taking out the full membership. Others may also want to compare the full membership rates (can be seen here) with the Affiliated Individual Member offer.

I am a regular cyclist and long term member of the DCG, although only active in the last 3 years. I've always enjoyed leisure cycling and have also commuted by cycle when my job has allowed. I am now a regular commuter by bike and bus. Previously undertook membership secretary and newsletter editor roles for the DCG and am now webmaster and treasurer.

  1. Another benefit of Affiliated Membership is the access to the rides and events of local groups where you’d be most welcome, the same access as a full member.
